About Ausklang

A wellness app that helps you spend less time on your phone.

We built Ausklang so you can cut your screen time without forcing yourself — and feel better after scrolling instead of worse. Here's how it works, and what we deliberately don't do.

What Ausklang is

  • A tool for noting how your mood feels after phone use.
  • A mirror that shows you your own patterns after a few days — without judgement.
  • A notebook for plans you write for yourself for hard moments.
  • A frame for small behavioural experiments you can try out.

What Ausklang is not

  • Not a medical device and not a certified health application.
  • Not therapy, not counselling, not a replacement for professional help.
  • Not a tool for diagnosing or treating any mental health condition.
  • Not a coach that tells you what to do.

How we think about it

We believe many people don't need a diagnosis or an app tutorial — they need a quiet place to listen to themselves again. Ausklang is that place. We're not selling you a transformation, a promise, or a set of numbers. We give you a few simple tools and then get out of your way.

What we won't do

  • We won't send you a message unless you want us to.
  • We don't count days. You can pause any time.
  • We get softer over time, not louder. Our goal is that you need us less.

Who's behind it

One person, one degree, no investors.

Ausklang is built by Jonas Höttler in Munich. He holds an M.Sc. in Digital Psychology — the same research the app stands on. There's no team, no growth targets, no investors who were promised usage time. That's the reason an app designed to be used less can exist at all.

  • No investors, no usage targets, no advertising
  • No subscription — €39.99 once, or use it free
  • No analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no tracker in the app
  • A human answers the mail: contact@balane.tech
